Credit for the great success achieved by the RS 660, sold in 72 countries and currently the best selling sport bike in Europe, goes to Aprilia's fortunate 660 project, which skillfully interprets sportiness in an innovative and modern way through a range of lightweight and high performance bikes, as well as technical and electronic features usually reserved for models in higher categories to give expert riders a thrilling ride but at the same time accessible and fun even for everyday use by new riders.
The new Aprilia RS 660 Extra weighs in 3 kg less than the standard version. SC Project E5 exhaust, carbon front mudguard and belly pan, single-seat tail fairing and reverse shift software for enhanced riding pleasure on a bike that is already top of the category.
To finish the bike off it comes with some striking new livery, a pillion seat delete (and aluminium exhaust hanger) for that super sporty aesthetic. The pillion seat and footrests are also included.
About the RS 660
First revealed in Milan at the 2019 show, the RS 660 stole the headlines as a modern equivalent to the RS250 two-stroke and a step away from a liter sports bikes, to provide something as comfortable on a twisty “A” road as on track.
Weighing a 166kg, the 660’s parallel-twin engine is derived from the front two cylinders on the RSV4 1100 Factory but in this chassis, used as a stress member, it’s paired with an aluminium twin spar frame, before being finished in a set bang up to date but still V4-inspired fairings.
The headlamps are fully LED incorporating a distinctive Daylight running light design and cornering headlights. Theres a TFT full colour dash up front, too
Producing 100hp, the most ever achieved by bike in this class, Aprilia have also equipped the bike with a ride-by-wire throttle and a six-axis IMU – so incorporating all the features of Aprilia's class leasing APRC system to get the best out of the bike for both track and road riding.
